As much as I’ve loved getting away to the coast practically every weekend, it’s getting chillier, and the rainy season is creeping up on us here in the NW. And I’m ok with that! I really do love fall:) Lately, I’ve really enjoyed getting cozy in the evenings with a cup of hot herbal tea, and in the mornings, I definitely lean on a bit of coffee to get me going. Why not skip the cardboard sleeve and wrap your cup with a fun reusable coffee cup sleeve instead? This craft is so quick and easy because it’s mostly no sew (except for optional decorations!), plus it’s budget friendly.

BONUS: By using your fun felt sleeve, you are saving countless paper sleeves! If you grab coffee or tea to go every day (or multiple times a day), that really adds up! Also, I am a HUGE fan of the $1 reusable plastic cup/lid from Starbucks – lightweight, inexpensive, easy to clean – andI’m saving even more paper. I know many people opt to buy insulated travel mugs, but some can’t go in the dishwasher and the cracks and crevices of the slider/flip top lids often don’t get completely clean. Plus, for $1 a cup, and a few bucks for supplies to make a DIY reusable felt sleeve, this reusable combo doesn’t get any more budget friendly:) You’ll Need: • felt and a coordinating fabric, or two colors felt (see notes at the end) • sharp fabric scissors • fabric glue • marker or chalk for tracing • coffee house style paper or reusable cup • paper sleeve, or this handy PDF template >> • optional embellishments: embroidery floss, embroidery or tapestry needle, felt shapes, buttons, brads, jewels, etc.

Start by tracing and cutting out felt and/or fabric in coordinating colors. You’ll need two different colors for each sleeve. If you don’t have a spare paper sleeve, feel free to print and use the PDF template I created from mine. (Click the image above to download) NOTE: Make sure you are tracing on the “wrong” or “back” side of your fabric, if there is one. That way, any residual marks won’t show. For mine, I used a felt sheet for the under fabric, and a super soft flannel pattern for the fabric on top. If you are using my templates, the “cutting template” should be used for this step.
