Review: Get of your phone stop keying that qwerty. One of the most hyped newcomers in D&B this year Unglued comes through with his biggest document to date so you better pay attention or at least get a little flirty. 'Deep Dark & Dirty' is an MC fronted call to the dancefloor with a sleazy treacle b-line, 'No Escape' takes us much deeper into the glue factory where the bones and melted down with uncut sub frequencies and concentrated gully, 'Tekapo' is provides soulful contrast with a spacious arrangement and rushy pads while 'Original Selector' closes on a badman block thwacking vibe that Yung Gluey is fast making his signature.
Review: Following on from last year's incredibly popular instalment, Shogun Audio have brought back Point of Origin for a third time. This series emphasises the rolling, minimal-ish side of the scene from some younger, more hungry producers and boy, is it a good formula. Exemplifying this is Revaux with 'Ibex', probably the nastiest tune on the album and arguably the best, as its crunching bass tabs inject fantastic groove. Rizzle and Malaky add something more sultry with 'Solstice' and 'Requiem', the former focusing on the vocals of Sydney whilst the latter opts for a more instrumental roll-out. Gerra & Stone represent the old guard amongst the newbies, holding up their end with a growling amalgamation of low-frequency force.

This is an exquisite album of D&B, with every corner covered and every flavour recognizable - special props going to Shogun for supporting new talent as well. Review: Vital isn't a big name yet amongst the jump-up side of things, but he soon might be. The title track to this one, 'Clarted', is reminiscent of Souped Up released, opening with a scale-climbing bounce of synth energy that makes for a sold beginning. 'Clear Some Space' cleans things up in the drums for a skipping percussive line which underpins another flurry of bass ricochets, not the darkest or most sophisticated but packed full of energy and attitude. 'Stabby' deserves its name and you can feel the glitchy jump-up hit your chest before it does, pointed bass stabs rolling up and down. 'No Doubt' is arguably the best tune on the EP, tendrils of creeping sub bass punctuate the intro before slipping into a reece and then a sine, a long bass which wobbles down into the bottom of the range.
Big tunes, all of these. Review: Vital Elements and Micky Finn make D&B that's raucous and packed with attitude. Needless to say, their new EP doesn't stop that trend and it kicks off with 'Control Sound': rumbles in the intro, an unbelievable build up and a drop that's as energetic as it gets - pure nastiness in the dance. 'I Need A Rhythm' builds stuttering breaks into a solid bedrock of percussion that pushes out into a snarling blend of various interlocked bass growls that still maintains a sense of groove, despite the horribleness. 'The Noise' is darker and emerges out of shimmering synths and a muddy low-end, transitioning nicely into 'Right To Dream', which is the roller of the EP with a fiery tirade of movement and energy.

'Double Time Swing' is a digital bonus, opening with a mix of walking double bass flicks and old-school samples, funky stabs turning into a diving blend of head-nodding bass notes. This is a release worthy of the pairs sound system credentials and one that would sound incredible live.
